Deb’s Work

I began writing poetry about 15 years ago and have participated in a variety of writing workshops and readings. I have worked collaboratively with visual artists, musicians and dancers.debphoto

My poetry has been published in numerous literary journals and anthologies such as North Coast Review, Rag Mag, Loonfeather, Dust & Fire, the Vision, ArtWord Quarterly, The Wolf Head Quarterly, Minnesota Poetry Calendar, Kalliope, Minnesota Monthly, Rosebud, Nimrod, Many Mountains Moving, California Quarterly, Wavelength, Cottonwood, and The Cancer Poetry Project.

I have used poetry extensively in my work as a Hospice/Hospital Chaplain and have conducted workshops on the interfacing of Poetry and Spirituality. My husband, Joel, who is a fine-art screenprinter, and I have exhibited our collaborative images through-out the region.

My first chapbook, Redirection of the Heart, was published by New Song Press.
I also won the 2001 chapbook competition for the journal Ruah. A third small collection of poems entitled ‘the gods of wild things’ was recently released by Poetry Harbor. I also won the 2003 Diane Glancey Poetry Award for the anthology ‘Dust & Fire.’
