2007 – 14 x 20 edition of 21 – $350
The next time I passed by this scene I found a woman sunning in a beach chair
and a yipping little dog leashed to the stump.

Waking from Grief
The fog over the water thins,
the sheerest voile,
distills the light.

Here, an altar at your feet,
the stump of some long-tumbled oak
brimming with tender shoots,
delicate leaves
like tiny, upturned hands.

The trees along the beach
cannot contain themselves,
this soft explosion
of new-green.
